Safety Tips

Some of the important basics on safety:

1. Use LPG rubber tubes with ISI Mark only

2. Change rubber tube once every two years, if not earlier

3. Switch off the regulator when cooking gas is not in use, especially at night

4. Don't panic after smelling gas. Here's what you should do.

5. Switch off the regulator and burner knobs

6. Put out all fires & do not operate any electrical switches

7. Open all doors and windows

8. Call your LPG Distributor or Bharatgas Helpline/Emergency Service Cell

Basic Rules Of Safety

1. Always remember to shut the value when the stove is not in use, especially at night.

2. Don't tamper with your cylinder or allied equipment.

3. Make sure all parts of the installation are in good condition. If you find anything wrong with any part, contact your distributor and ask for a mechanic.

4. It is safer to wear cotton clothing while working in the kitchen. Do not use dupatta to handle utensils, preferably use an apron.

5. Keep children away from the installation while you're cooking.

6. Use dry pot holders.

7. Never leave the hotplate on and unattended. The burners could extinguish by overflow of cooking material or even draught of air) allowing gas to leak. The accumulated gas could get ignited by the second burner in operation (or other sources) resulting in fire.

8. Turn panhandles to the side away from the flame. Keep plastic items away from the stoves.

9. 50% of cooking gas-related accidents occurs because of leakages from the rubber tube.

10. Get your tube changed, whenever it is damaged. And as a rule, replace the rubber tube every two years.

11. Keep the safety cap on over unused cylinders.

What do you do when you smell gas?

Do you ?

1. Turn the pressure regulator knob to the OFF position.

2. Put out all fires in the kitchen (including agarbatti and pooja lamp).

3. Open all doors and windows for ventilation.

4. Do not strike a match and do not operate any electric switches (including main switch). Electrical switches and dry cell torches generate spark while switching on or off.

5. Get in touch with you distributor or get in touch with your Bharatgas Helpline / Emergency Service Cell managed by the Oil Companies after office hours and on Sundays and holidays

Economy /Conservation Tips

Some Tips on economy / conservation of fuel..!

1. Organise your cooking. Keep all ingredients ready for cooking. This will help you cook rapidly and thus save gas.

2. If you have to stop cooking for a short while, shut off the gas. After all, it's cheaper to light another match.

3. Use as little liquid as possible when cooking - surplus water requires more heating and therefore more gas is used than is necessary. 4. Match the burner to the vessel. Use a small vessel on a small burner. A large burner consumes 15 percent more gas.

5. Cover the vessel while cooking. A cover helps prevent the steam from escaping. This means quicker cooking. A cover also helps retain the aroma of the food.

6. The family that eats together saves gas. If you have to heat food just once, it means less waste. Reheated food is also less nutritious.

How to make your cooking gas last longer?

Organise your cooking

1. Prepare all the ingredients and keep them ready for cooking.

2. This means you can cook rapidly.

3. If you have to stop cooking for a short while shut off the gas.

4. It's cheaper to light another match.

The family that eats together saves gas

1. If you have to heat food just once, it means less waste. Reheated food is also less nutritious.

2. A gas burner has two positions - use them :

3. Once you bring a liquid to boil or the food becomes hot you can keep it hot by using the simmer position hereby saving a lot of gas. Because at the simmer position gas flows out at only 1/4 to 1/3 the full rate. Try it out and see.

The colour and height of the flame are very important

1. If the flame is blue in colour, everything is fine.

2. If the outlet holes are blocked and the flame is yellow, have the stove checked by a mechanic.

3. The flame should never extend beyond the bottom of the pan.

4. This saves gas and makes sure the food is cooked properly, especially if there is liquid inside the pan or vessel.
